To celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary, my husband & I ventured to Key Biscayne to have a mini stay-cation. Key Biscayne is right off the bay here in Miami so we didn’t go far. But for a couple who never seems to stop working, it was just far enough to let ourselves disconnect. If you’ve never been out to Key Biscayne it’s definitely on a different wave length than Miami. Everyone is operating on island time & I absolutely love it. Streets are lined with peacocks & iguanas so you may want to mentally prepare yourself if you’re not used to living around tropical critters.
While we were out there we decided to stay at The Ritz-Carlton, which lived up to its reputation tenfold. From greeting us with mimosas at check-in to complimentary drinks by the pool, they truly don’t miss a beat. It may be the fact that I am easily won over by anyone who offers me champagne… but that’s neither here nor there. For the record, I would like to be like a much older, wiser Eloise & move all my shit into the penthouse. Eloise can have the Plaza, I’ll take the Ritz. Dear anyone reading this from The Ritz-Carlton, call me. Please? Maybe? Hello?
When searching for some new items for our weekend getaway (because I will use any excuse for new clothing), I found these shorts by LJC Designs & fell in love. They are different and a little funky, but still “wearable” at the same time. Originally, I thought I would just wear them over a bikini as we strolled to the beach. Once I received them in the mail, however, I realized they were so much more than that. They may have an elastic waistband & give off major island vibes but they are durable and absolutely gorgeous! First, the fabric is a combination of sturdy yet breathable linen, but thick enough to still look luxe. Second, the shells are perfectly stitched to the shorts & give them just the right amount of weight. I went with a monochromatic scheme for this outfit so it would look a little more pulled together for our celebratory dinner. Given the versatility of these shorts, I could have just as easily worn them with a tank & sandals too.

Hope this helps you think outside the box on your next vacation. I love a good kaftan as much as the next woman but these are such a fun alternative.
