If someone were to ask me: “If you could only wear one outfit variation for the rest of your life, what would it be?” I would unhesitatingly say a white top and denim. Yes, it’s painfully classic, but hear me out. The number of variables that can change the vibe of your look is nearly limitless. From a soft linen top paired with flawless dark denim to a skin-tight tank with distressed cutoffs, you can continually reinvent this combination to fit any occasion. I don’t share many “closet must haves” considering how different everyone’s taste in clothing is, but I must admit that having a selection of go-to white tops & some great denim sure fits the bill.

For me, the key to getting the most out of these pieces is finding classic designs made from fabrics that resonate with your own personal style. Like the tank that’s pictured in this post, the shape is nothing more than a plain loose-fitting tank top, but there is something about the gauzy material that makes it feel much more beach bohemian to me. Another example I have in my arsenal is a simple white button down shirt that I found in a really great, lightweight/almost sheer cotton material. The style is traditionally classic yet the fabric makes it much more wearable for me. If it was made out of a stiff or unbreathable material, it would never leave the hanger in my closet. So if you’re in the market for some new closet “staples,” but don’t want to buy items that are borderline too trendy or too boring, try this method out. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
As always, sending lots of tropical vibes your way.
