Here lies another blog post where I am unapologetically pleading for you to consider acquiring as many sets as you possibly can for the upcoming summer season. Don’t worry though, I’ll save you from my spiel of all the reasons I feel so strongly about these adorable little ensembles. In case you missed my first plea where I confessed my love for summer sets, you can read all about why I adore them in my earlier post. I do, however, want to touch on a related and equally important topic, which is what exactly I wear under super short skirts—like the one pictured here—to avoid baring my ass to the whole world. The answer is simple: high-waist bikini bottoms. Why, you may be wondering? Well, I’m glad you asked, because (1.) they give you the coverage and comfort of a bodysuit without the restrictions of weird straps or necklines, and (2.) they’re completely opaque & have a nice snug fit, so they’re a better option than your typical run-of-the-mill underwear. As an added bonus, I also wear them under sheer skirts and dresses (like the white dress I wore in my Islamorada Exploring post). I’ve linked several pairs of bikini bottoms that fit the bill in the “Shop My Style” section below, so feel free to take a peek if you’re in need of a short skirt game changer.

200 Degree Set – in “rosebud” | Puma Baskets [womens sizes 8.5-12 HERE / sizes 5-8 HERE] **please reference “sneaker sizing” below.*** | Mirrored Sunglasses [only $20!!!] | Cognac Saddle Bag | High Waist Bikini Bottoms: Black / Navy / Coral / White | KDJ Oceanic Necklace [shark tooth] | KDJ L’eau Tusk Necklace [mother of pearl + 18″ length] | KDJ Santana Cuff [opal] | KDJ Rocco Bracelet [white moonstone] |
I love this set’s versatility in that it’s just as easy to “dress up” as it is to “dress down.” For everyday lunch dates or afternoon outings, I prefer to err on the side of casual, so this is where my shoe selection comes into play. I love the low-key style of these Puma Baskets, mixed with the girly vibe of the frilly skirt set. So if you have a set (or any outfit for that matter) to which you never feel like you have the right place or occasion to wear it, throw on some sneakers & incorporate it into your everyday looks. For a night out or even a daytime event, I would style this set with a pair of block heels & a fun statement clutch.
Hope you love this look as much as I do & as always, sending lots of tropical vibes your way!
