florida keys roadtrip chic |style|

This past weekend we took advantage of one of Miami’s perks & took a trip down to Key West. Even though it’s only about 3 hours from Miami to the very end of the Keys, I still kept comfort in mind for the ride. There’s nothing worse than walking into a gas station, mid-day, in 5-inch heels & a mini skirt, while everyone looks at you like you need to reevaluate your life choices… or so I’ve been told. We stopped at the old Seven Mile Bridge to take in the sights & take advantage of the perfectly pale aqua water as a backdrop.

I went for my ride or die, “till death do you part” cutoff shorts & a black linen tee that most appropriately says “Somewhere,” topped off with a tassel necklace that is the perfect blend of bohemian/gypsy/mermaid/surfer girl. The fact that the necklace was handmade in the heart of Florida by the sweetest girl under the sun doesn’t hurt either. I paired it with my shark tooth & evil eye necklaces for a little more interest, because I felt the overall tone of my look was pretty minimalistic.

I am also obsessed with all things suede so my clutch & sandals followed suite. I was on the hunt for a wide brim straw hat, but one that had a little more structure than most prototypical “beachy” hats. First and foremost, I fell in love with this one in particular due to the light color of the straw. Secondly, it was the perfect shape & I loved how it didn’t come with any embellishments. Like the bandana, I can customize the hat to mesh with whatever look I am going for or keep it plain & simple.

Hopefully it’s warming up wherever you are in the world & you can find some laid back tropical inspiration from this look. Sending lots of island vibes your way.
